We began at 14:45 with a rehearsal in St. Mary's Church House, followed by betinsling ourselves ready for action and our collecting buckets ready for action. At 15:30 we took to St. Mary's Churchyard to give complete renditions of Personent Hodie, The Truth from Above, Away in a Manger, the Coventry Carol, and Gaudete. Having exhausted our carols and undeterred by the lack of people around the town, we took to Blueberry's Cafe whose owners kindly allowed us to sing and whip-round with the buckets, and then to the Market. We then made our raucous way to the harbour, where we sang once again in spite of one particularly scrooge-like resident. Having dispensed some compulsory Christmas Spirit, we moved on to sing to Prince Albert and the town at large from the top of Castle Hill. En route from the castle, we sang to the residents and itinerants of Lexon Terrace, the Hope and Anchor, the Lifeboat (Pub), and Tenby House. From the Five Arches we turned to Tudor Square, our last post for one final performance before delving into a veritable feast of nibbley things in Church House. |
